We exist to share the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ with as many people as possible and provide an atmosphere where people from all different backgrounds can come together and learn how to live a better life through applying God's word.
Love God, Love people and serve our city. Our mission is to continually build a relevant church that encourages participation, embraces change, empowers people and celebrates life. God is building our church as a place that is sensitive to the needs of our city and actively makes a difference in the lives of people, teaches the truth of God's word and demonstrates His word to our world.
In 1991, Pastors Jim and Deborah McGaffin leased a small chapel on the old Archbishop Ryan High School Campus at 60th and L Street, and the congregation was born. Now, more than 20 years later, Liberty Christian Center owns the 30-acre site and over 144,000 square feet of buildings.
We're really just one big family! We have a wide variety of activities and ministries, for all age groups and interests, where people can connect and discover friends and support within our church. We believe that church should be an extension of your own family.
The Bible is God's Word to all men.
The Unseen World is made up of two kingdoms – the Kingdom of God
and the kingdom of darkness.
Mankind is created in the image and likeness of God but has been separated
from God by sin.
Jesus became… Sin so that we could be made righteous. (II Cor 5:21) A curse so that we could be redeemed. (Gal 3:13-14) Sick so that we could be healed. (Isaiah 53:3-4) Poor so that we could be made rich. (II Cor 8:9) Water Baptism is an outward profession of a person's inward commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior. Believers should be baptized in the Holy Spirit, speak with other tongues and experience the gifts of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Communion is received in remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice for us.
It is God's will that believers prosper and be in health. God answers prayer & cares about every area of our lives. God heals through believers "laying hands on the sick in prayer" according to Mark 16. The Christian lifestyle should agree with God's Word. Church attendance & involvement is necessary for developing a well-balanced Christian life. Tithing should be a part of every Christian's life. Jesus Christ will return to the earth, and believers will reign together with Him!
He exists in three personalities–Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
Acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior is God's only plan of Salvation.
He is for us – not against us. He does not use tragedy, illness or acts of nature to teach us.
The Great Commission compels us to share Jesus Christ with others!
Jim and Deborah are the Founders and Senior Pastors of Liberty Christian Center. With a call on their lives to teach God's Word and help people, Pastor Jim began teaching Bible studies in Iowa and Nebraska, and anywhere people would listen. Then God called Pastors Jim and Deborah to Pastor a small church in Omaha. With no money and no building, they accepted the challenge 25 years ago. Only months later they purchased their first church building. Their purpose has always been to help people live better lives, by applying the Word of God to their lives. Pastors Jim and Deborah have been married for 34 years. They are best friends, work together in the ministry and have four children, Micah, James, Mark, and Mercedes.
You have probably heard that God takes all the things you done previously and puts them together to where you are at now. This would apply to Mike Schab, LCC's Property Manager and Care Pastor. Whether it was a factory or ministry job, or self-employment, each task helped develop people and helps skills that are put to use daily at Liberty Christian Center. Mike has been married for 32 years to his wife Margie. They have been associated with Pastors Jim and Deborah for 28 years. Mike and Marj have 2 daughters, Jeanette and her husband Robert, with grandson Robbie and Amy with her husband Troy and grandchildren T.J. and Emma.
Mercedes oversees 1st Impressions which includes; greeters, guest services, salvations, donations and more. Our volunteer team is here to serve and greet you as you first step inside our building, because our desire is that you feel welcomed and right at home here at Liberty Christian Center. She also serves in various other ways in our church offices and in the Underground School of Ministry.
Brandon Kerr began ministering at LCC as the director of The Underground School of Ministry. Brandon was instrumental in the development of the USM since the program's inception in 2007 and felt that the Lord was calling him to a new place in ministry in 2012. In June of 2013 Ps Brandon answered that call and was installed as Youth Pastor of G2:20. He desires to see a generation turn their eyes towards God and devote themselves to Him. Discipling young people and catapulting them to their full potential in Christ is Brandon's passion. Brandon has been married to his wife Charity since March 1, 2014! He currently lives in Omaha, NE with his wife Charity as they enjoy every second they spend serving young people!
Love Omaha is our outreach program that is dedicated to feeding people physically and spiritually. It is far from a "perfect" outreach ministry, but our team refuses to sit and do nothing. The "LO" team partners with many great area businesses and ministries to make a difference and here are some of the ways they serves their city.
The Love Omaha Downtown Outreach is a ministry that takes place every Wednesday and Saturday. We prepare over 250 plus home cooked meals for our friends that are living in downtown Omaha and at area Missions weekly. Not only are they being fed a hot meal, but we also get a chance to pray with and minister to them. This outreach relies 100% on the donations of our community partners like Kentucky Fried Chicken, Rotellas Bakery, Famous Dave's and Hy-Vee.
Love Omaha's" ministry with Children's Hospital is a rare opportunity to bless people. When tragedy strikes families they rarely have the opportunity to get their personal belongings together and go with their child to the Hospital. What "Love Omaha" does is take supplies to these families who are in need of help and support. We bring microwavable food, clothes, toiletries, and toys for these families during their stay at the hospital so they are taking care of as they take care of their loved one.
On every major holiday "Love Omaha" prepares full holiday feasts for the police and fire stations that our located near our church. This is our way of taking care of the ones who take care of us every day. They sacrifice holidays with their families too ensure we are protected. This is our way of saying thank you! One day, we plan on being able to provide this service to more stations across the city.
Beautiful Women "BW" is the women's ministry of LCC. God's Word empowers women in all walks of life to influence their worlds – at home, on the job, and in the community. Through conferences, Bible studies, special events, and a variety of activities, women are encouraged to achieve their highest potential in Christ. As a result, they inspire others to do the same. Join us every Wednesday night at 6:30pm for our weekly Bible study.
Manpower motivates men to live a lifestyle committed to God, in service to their family, church, and community. Through monthly gatherings led by Pastor Jim, men are challenged to live powerfully and with purpose, as they grow stronger in their relationship with God. Join us every Wednesday night at 6:30pm for our Bible study.
Here at Liberty Christian Center, we are passionate about small groups! We believe that connection is a vital part of our church experience. House Parties exist to help you do just that….connect! Our small groups are more than a bible study. They are monthly meetings and events with people who will become your friends and family. Your House Party will be full of people that you will eventually end up "doing life" with. Getting connected to a House Party is a great way to meet people, develop stronger friendships and grow in your relationship with God. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, for more information and so we can connect you to a House Party near you.
